Interior design is more to do with how people seek to use a space; be it residential, commercial or public spaces. This discipline is a combination study and practice of design dealing with how people live and flow in leisure, domestic and commercial settings. It is a cohesive approach to designing spaces that are functional and efficient with an understanding of aesthetics. The designers also implement structural alterations, lighting, colour schemes, furnishings, fixtures and fittings.
The Interior and space design program at IID will equip learners with creative and technical skills to design spaces that are visually engaging as well as serve the intended purpose. The program also enables learners to develop personal vision and implement this vision in contemporary spaces. The teaching method focuses on current and emerging situations like sustainability, environment consciousness and repurposing. Our students acquire 21st century skills such as critical thinking, communication and innovation.
